Seller's comments about 1936' Alvis Speed 20

1936 ALVIS SPEED 20 SD - FOR LIGHT RECOMMISSIONINGA complete and highly desirable pre-war Alvis Speed 20 SD, offered as an appealing restoration project with excellent potential. The body has already been restored, the engine is reported to be in good order but will need some minor recommissioning. The interior is approximately 90% trimmed, requiring only installation and finishing. Asbestos sound-deadening material has been identified beneath the roof lining and will require appropriate sealing before completion-buyers should satisfy themselves as to safe handling and remediation. Viewing welcome. Substantially complete and well worth the effort, this is a rewarding opportunity to return an elegant and sought-after sporting saloon to the road. With the relative ease of simple mechanical recommissioning and finalising the interior re-trim- this could prove to be a very good buy for a rare Alvis Speed 20. Supplied complete with a current V5- this highly desirable vehicle is offered without reserve. The Alvis Speed 20 is widely regarded as one of the finest British sporting cars of the pre-war era, combining refined engineering with understated elegance. Introduced in the early 1930s, the model was powered by a smooth and capable six-cylinder engine, offering strong performance alongside excellent road manners for its time. Built on a robust chassis and often fitted with bespoke coachwork by respected bodybuilders, the Speed 20 appealed to discerning motorists seeking both comfort and driving enjoyment. Its well-balanced design, advanced engineering features, and reputation for reliability established Alvis as a marque of considerable prestige during this period. Today, the Speed 20 remains highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike, valued for its usability, distinctive character, and important place in British motoring history. A fine example of interwar craftsmanship, it continues to offer an engaging and rewarding vintage motoring experience. This vehicle is located near Selby, North Yorkshire from where it will need to be collected. Motorscan report and videos available on request.
