1934 Alvis Speed 20 SC VDP
Oxborrow and Fuller Enclosed Continental Tourer
Chassis number 12358

Registration BYL 926
• Delivered on 29th September 1934 to Charles Follet and registered in July 1935 as an Oxborrow and Fuller Enclosed Continental Tourer with coachwork by Van den Plas.
• The Oxborrow and Fuller Aluminium body was designed to offer drivers the best of both open and closed motoring with glass rear quarter windows and wind up front side glass and a well fitting hood. It is said that only three O&F bodies were fitted to Alvis cars and quite possibly this is the sole remaining example.
• This car had a body off restoration in 1994 by The Motor House in Newbury and was painted in Grosvenor brown with tan hide. It’s now beautifully presented with the gentle patina of 24 years.
• Recently the engine has been completely rebuilt at great expense by Jim Stokes Workshops with new internal parts and a new cylinder block casting. Running superbly with electric water pump and fans it is as good as you will find. New brakes and wheel location plates have also been fitted.
• The current owner has enjoyed the car since 2007 and a large history file with receipts from the present back to 1950 are included.
A rare opportunity to own a unique and beautiful open bodied VDP Speed Twenty SC with a new engine and great patina.
I took the car for an extended test drive last week and it performs beautifully with very little shake, straight and light steering with impressive performance..
