Seller's comments about 1955' Alvis Tc 21

This beautifully presented 1955 Alvis TC21/ 100 Grey Lady has come to us from friends of ours in Leicestershire. The Alvis was subject of a major nut and bolt rebuild between 1993 and 1998 to original specification and an in depth photographic record is on file show the major level of work carried out. The body was taken off the chassis and the Alvis then rebuilt and taken to a lovely standard and since completion in the late 1990’s it has been used for touring, shows, events and has made appearances on the screen to include Granchester, Peaky Blinders, The Ipcress File and Miss Marple.

PGA 155 was first owned by George Ian Scott CBE in Edinburgh who in 1965 became our late Queens Surgeon-Oculist. According to paperwork with the car, its believed its first owner requested the TC21 without bonnet scroops and wire wheels. The Alvis changed hands a couple of times in its early life but in 1966 it was purchased by a gentleman in Laverock Bank Terrace in Edinburgh who kept the car for 23 years. It was used sparingly in the city during his ownership but by 1989 it was ready for some TLC. The Alvis was then again in long term ownership and the major rebuild was carried out over five years in the 1990's. Having parted with the car in 2011, the Alvis has had three owners since who have maintained the car very well with receipts on file.

Since restoration the Alvis has covered several thousand miles and it performs superbly. The 3 litre engine starts up perfectly, runs beautifully holding very good oil pressure and it's on road performance is impressive. It's has a superb, strong engine and it pulls superbly through the gears. The Alvis handles very well holding the road with precision, brakes pull up nice and straight and the car offers great confidence for long distance touring. The Alvis presents beautifully with lovely consistent paintwork, very sharp chrome work and the interior is beautiful with lovely leather, carpets, headlining and smart wood dash with working switch gear. With a working sliding sunroof the car is fabulous to use in the summer months and with a structurally excellent body and chassis, this is TC21/ 100 Grey Lady is a great buy.
