Seller's comments about 1950' Aston Martin DB1 Two Litre Sports

Aston Martin DB1 '2 Litre Sports' for sale privately by current long-term owner

The Aston Martin 'Two Litre Sports', retrospectively known as the DB1 after the introduction of the DB2, was the first post-war Aston Martin model and the first car made under David Brown's ownership of the company. 15 cars were produced between 1948 and 1950, 9 of which are believed to survive.

'OPD 53', still on its original registration with original matching numbers engine & gearbox, was the fifteenth and final DB1 built. It was originally purchased by Lord Chesham, then Chairman of the Royal Automobile Club. The car has had just six owners in total, including us, all of whom are documented. It was subject to a total restoration by Rod Jolley Coachbuilding in the early 1990s.

A comprehensive history file dating back to the 1950s accompanies the car. This includes the original log book stamped 15th june 1950 and the details of the car’s comprehensive restoration.

We have owned the car since 2005 and it is only available due to a reduction in the space we have to house our collection, where it has been kept in a temperature-controlled environment. It has been regularly started and driven locally on odd occasions.

The body, paintwork and chassis of the car remain in first class condition, with barely a blemish to be seen, whilst the tan leather interior and folding fawn coloured hood are in largely the same condition as when the car was restored. The car currently starts on the button and runs well.

A pdf document with a more comprehensive description of the car can be e-mailed to prospective purchasers, as well as a scan of the paperwork detailing its history. These also contain over 70 photographs of the car.

This is a private sale by the long term owner of the car, so serious enquiries only please. The car be viewed in the county of Yorkshire, in northern England, UK, by appointment with the owners.
