This Austin 12/ 4 is apparently the only known survivor of three prototypes of the Open Road Tourer. It was built in 1926 as it is registered 4th January 1927 and it carries its original registration number.
Although a lot has been done to make this car fit for the road, some finishing is still required and this is reflected in the price. A new hood is fitted and the original sidescreens are all with the car. Two sets are cunningly located in the doors and the final set, which also make into a rear screen for the back seat passengers, is housed in a purpose made bag. A hood bag and tonneau cover for the rear are also newly made. A small degree of finishing to the hood bag and hood details could be carried out.
The interior leather appears to be the original and is in good condition. The paintwork is aged but fair. The radiator shell is in good order, new nickel bonnet catches have recently been fitted.
All the road tyres are either new or nearly new, the spare is older but with plenty of tread and the car sits on the correct 21" wheels. A new high torque starter motor is fitted which so far has ensured prompt starting with a BTH magneto and an Autovac. A new pair of VAR chains have recently been fitted and the waterpump is largely new. The dynamo charges, the clock , speedometer, oil gauge and ammeter all work. The hand controls have all been made to work in a satisfactory manner and a new VAR starting handle is with the car.
I have a reasonable collection of cars but as the years are going on I have decided to concentrate on 30s smallish saloons and so I have decided to offer some of my cars for sale. The Austin has hardly been out of the garage and I think it would be doing it a favour to have it find a new home. The price is substantially below what it is standing me at.

26/ 7/ 21 Kindly note that owing to building work for new garages starting today, long overdue because of the lockdown, I will not be at the computer for a while and so any emails may take some time to answer. That doesn’t mean any lack of interest in selling, quite the contrary, but a phone call will be most welcome while this dawn to dusk work goes on.
Home is just on the outskirts of Dumfries, 30 miles from Carlisle.
