Model history
The Austin Healey is one of the most iconic British sports cars from the sixties. They had plenty of performance, charisma, exquisite styling and a first-class competition pedigree.
This example
This particular Austin Healey 100 BN2 was built on the 22th of February in 1956 and delivered to Germany. According to its British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Sheet, the car was sold through A. Brüggemann & Company G. M. B. H in Düsseldorf. It is however registered as a 1955 car in Holland. The Dutch road register can make mistakes too.
In 1997 the Healey was bought by the current Dutch owner. Although the bodywork and chassis only had minor rust, the car needed restoration. According to the Heritage sheet the car has matching numbers. In 1998 the restoration was started. The car was frame of restored of which a photo documentation comes with the car. The bodywork was professionally done and the engine was rebuilt in Haarlem. This car has been fitted with a ‘Le Mans’ kit. In 1999 the restoration was finished and the car registred in the Netherlands.
The owner has kept a journal since 1997 which is a nice read. For example, he enjoyed the car on the beautiful Italian roads as he participated 3 times at the Via Flaminia rally. All maintenance and trips are noted.
The quality of the restoration work makes that this Healey still presents very well. Only 16. 000 kilometers were driven after the restoration was finished in 1999. Beautifully finished in ‘Healey Blue’ with a dark blue interior with grey piping. The softtop is also dark blue.
This car benefits from a long term ownership and rally equipment. A lovely Moto-Lita wood-rim steering wheel is fitted which gives this Healey a more sporty appearance. If preferred, a QSP racing harness set will be delivered with the car.
This very attractive Healey 100/ 4 comes with a rare hardtop, a tonneau cover, a Halda Tripmaster, a Kenlowe fan and ofcourse the overdrive. Furthermore, a nice set of pictures of the restoration and an Austin Healey owners handbook are included.
The alloy centre lock wheels with a little wider tyres give an even better roadholding.
