Sales informationIn the more than 40 years we have been involved with classic cars, we have already been able to supply quite a few Austin Healeys. We fully understand that the classic car enthusiast always has the Healey high on the wish list. The sound of the glorious inline six, the beautifully contoured coachwork, the sportiness and the practical usability are just a few factors that explain the popularity of this type. Additionally, the “older youngsters” still embrace the Healey, so the future looks bright as well. All the more reason to be pleased with our new acquisition: a Healey from 1966, the very latest type, called 3000 Mk3 Phase 2.The accompanying Heritage Certificate tells us that the car was originally delivered in Philadelphia, USA and that all original parts are present, making it a complete matching-numbers car. The blue interior and the exterior blue, known as Healey Blue, are also original. But the sides are Old English White? Correct. The last owner had this done because it is so quintessential Healey and it makes the car look even nicer.In 1990 the car was brought to the Netherlands by a restoration company, and work began on a complete restoration to original standards. They did a superb job, as we can still attest years later. Beautiful alignments of doors and other bodywork parts, and the paintwork is exceptionally neat and tight. The chrome isn’t new anymore, but it’s perfectly serviceable. The interior also looks perfect and the small bucket seats give the driver and passenger good support. The advantage of the small rear seats is that small passengers can ride along, and a flat area can be folded down to create a nice flat storage surface. The soft top is in a beautiful mohair finish in the original blue. This also applies to the hood cover, to be mounted as a cover for the soft top in its folded-down position.As far as driving goes, we can basically only say: this is how a Healey should drive! A smoothly running engine paired with a four-speed gearbox fitted with a comfort-enhancing overdrive. Precise steering. Good brakes with discs on the front axle and drums at the rear, assisted by a booster. No rattles or other drawbacks typical of an old car. In short, a wonderful, well-maintained (latest service carried out in August 2025) genuine Healey.Outside, of course, the stunning alloy Minilite wheels catch the eye with gleaming centre nuts. Persistent vibrations and the difficulty of cleaning were the reason the owner had these lovely wheels fitted with new tyres. The better stability of these wheels makes the car handle even finer and a wash is a lot quicker. There’s also a spare wheel, such a nice piece.Other options include an automatic cooling fan and underneath a stainless steel exhaust system fitted.If you’re considering a truly genuine “Big Healey”, you should definitely give this English classic a chance to enrich your hobby.
