Eddy Hall inspired 3 ½ Derby Bentley Chassis number: B111BL Engine number: V9BF Date of Registration: August, 1934Arie-Jean Engineering are excited to offer this beautiful Eddy Hall inspired 3 ½ Derby Bentley. Before describing this car its important to put it into context. Eddy Hall campaigned his highly modified Derby Bentley for almost 2 decades, in all the great road races of the period, Mille Miglia, Ulster TT.. by 1950 when the car was 17 years old, he entered the Le Mans 24 hrs !!. Amazingly for such an old car not only did he finish 8th place, but he drove the full 24 hours alone… an amazing achievement and a record that still stands today. On offer is a beautiful 3 1/ 2ltr Derby Bentley, dispatched from the factory in 1934 to its first owner in South Africa. Shortly after the War it was repatriated back to the UK, most likely due to the lack of available second hand cars and short supply of new cars. By the 1980’s the owner was inspired to have the car rebodied to this beautiful streamlined body. The car has since been fully restored with the addition of an opening rear deck enabling an additional 2 passengers, still with ample luggage space and full ‘as new’ weather gear. The car remains matching numbers engine, gearbox and chassis. Documentation back to the 1980’s covering the conversion, original design draft with communications between various parties, additional restoration 2008 and maintenance to-date . Full Belgium Papers, FIVA passport, EU Taxes paid. The car is in superb condition, mechanically and cosmetically, ready to be rallied or raced anywhere. A stunning wooden sculpture of the car made by Designworks California is included in the sale; Test drives by appointment only, please contact using the button below for further information.
