This Bentley 3 liter Speed model (chassis #889, engine #828) has a 4½ liter engine and an overdrive. She has a new 3 liter radiator with much more cooling capacity. The two magnetos are overhauled. She is a very reliable and fast car, that starts on the button.
Chassis 889 was delivered in February 1925 new to Major L. Bainbridge from Lincolnshire, England. The engine number was 881 and the body was a 4 seater sports body built by VandenPlas om a 9’9½” wheelbase chassis. The English license plate was FU3416.
In the beginning of 1927 the car had an accident and then fitted with new brake drums and leaf springs. The next owner in 1929 was W. Hutchinson from Westminster followed by C. Burn from Mopeth, Northumberland in 1931.
In 1933 the car was in the property of F.A. Markham from Swanley in Kent. In 1934 the Service Records stops. The Lincolnshire registration records show that chassis 889 was disassembled by Bentley in 1934 and that the chassis frame was used in the 3 liter Bentley with original chassis number LM1350.
In 1963 the chassis of 889 was subsequently removed and sold to Fuad Majzub. He has rebuild the car completely and has ordered a replica VandenPlas body from H&H Coach Works.
Chassis 889 has made long trips all over Europe and performed very well. Due to the 4½ liter engine and to the overdrive she is perfect for long distance touring.
