JWR 771 was first registered on 2nd November 1949 and was supplied new to a Mr Wadsworth of Rotherham. It is pleasing to confirm the Bentley still retains its original Yorkshire registration mark along with a good history and the usual Bentley grace. She is a 1949 Bentley Mk VI Standard Steel Saloon now presented in silver over a lustrous deep maroon exterior
Reluctantly letting go following 4 years ownership, as a replacement has caught my eye and garaging space is needed
This car has been the subject of a reviving restoration, following an earlier ownership on a limited budget.
She also now has a very tidy interior with new deep red carpets and matching refurbished upholstery. The front seats have undergone professional leather treatment to retain the patina correct for its age and the rear squab has been recently re-trimmed with new leather to match the front and to replace an earlier attempt to complete it in vinyl. All interior woodwork has been removed and re-polished The headlining has been replace, and with the rear illuminated vanity mirrors the appropriate interior style is now befitting a car of this quality. Note; All window winders operate correctly
The Carburettors have been subject to a complete refurbishment by Burlin Fuels to ensure smooth running. Recently fitted tyres give a good depth of tread and a look that befits a car of this period. The braking system has been the subject of a refurbishment by a local specialist to ensure full and proper operation. The engine has been the subject of an assessment by another local Bentley engineer and deep work completed to recondition it to the original standards and quality; this is all documented in the history file. Recent work sums to approximately £6,000.00 thus ensuring this car is as reliable as a Bentley should be.
The original chrome work is of a matching high standard as would be expected on these cars.
In the comprehensive portfolio, documents record all recent work and earlier events in this cars history. It is nice to see this includes her original Buff Log-book. The large selection of documents provides a satisfying record of the car and the excellent work that has been done to bring it up to its current high standard.
The vehicle retains its small tools in the engine compartment. The original Bentley drivers’ handbook is also present.
The car benefits from the recent addition of flashing indicators to make it more usable in modern traffic these include period Rolls Royce large lamps to ensure a sympathetic style. The trafficators are still fitted and have been proved to work. They are currently disabled as they are not ‘expected’ by current road-users
She has been used sparingly by her current owner and has of course been garaged and not used during inclement weather
Any inspection is invited but please note test runs will only be undertaken on dry days.
