This magnificent Bentley T1 is finished in the Regal Red (ICI M 035-2642), with a beige leather upholstery (VM 3234) and was first registered on the 19th of February 1971 by Wadhams Stringer Ltd, Guildford to . To this day, the car has only covered a warranted 75, 336 miles from new, with only 4 previous owners (of which there was family ownership from new, passing down from father to daughter until March 2007).
Of all the car’s I have owned, I have never owned a car which has been more meticulously cared for then this Bentley. Over £85, 000 has been invested in and spent on the car in its lifetime, with every single bill, invoice and service recorded from new in the car’s three folder extensive history file. It is an absolutely unrepeatable file, which includes the original leather bound handbook, the Rolls Royce & Bentley Warranty, the service schedule and bill of sale, along with the construction and test records, which were completed by the International Club for Rolls Royce and Bentley Enthusiasts.
The car has been restored a couple of times in its lifetime (with photographic evidence of the works carried out) and so presents in excellent condition, with no rust whatsoever. The most recent re-spray was carried out only last year at a tune of over £7, 000, with the car stripped down to bare-metal, so that any rust could be cut out and repaired. Prior to this, £4, 700 was spent on tuning the engine and fully overhauling and servicing the brake system by Country Classic Cars and so the car runs and drives perfectly, without skipping a beat. Moreover, the car has a full new set of Avon 235/ 70/ 15 tyres, which have less than 500 miles of wear. This example also benefits from having rear seatbelts fitted and it has an air conditioning/ heating ventilation system which was been converted to R134A in November 2001 and is extremely efficient. All electrical equipment is fully operational too, including the original Motorola radio.
This is undoubtedly a very rare car, with only 1, 703 Short-wheel based T1’s produced during a 12 year production span (production numbers are 10x less than those of the Silver Shadow!). Moreover, this example has the later 6750cc engine, which benefits from the re-designed cylinder head and improved automatic transmission, to increase top speed and drivability.
I have personally owned the car for nearly three years now and will be sorry to see it go, as it really is one of the most unrepeatable and genuine T1’s left in existence, that is very well-known amongst Bentley circles. The condition as described is great and the car only needs a few small details to get it up to the next level!
The car comes with a fresh 12 months MOT, which expires on the 7th of February 2024 (having passed with no advisories), two keys and its original tool kit. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions, would like to see the car or would like a collection of extra photos which I have available upon request. Cheers.
