Seller's comments about 1949' Bristol 400 Ref B 208
This 1949 classic Bristol 400 is finished in stunning red, whilst the interior has been kept to the original cream colour. This car shows little signs of its age with a great drive and comfortable ride. This is a fantastic example of a vintage Bristol car with its imposing looks and timeless style.
This particular example of a Bristol 400 was used in the C.U.A.C. (Cambridge University Auto Club) Speed Trials at Bottisham in 1951 the driver, P. Riley, achieved the honour of being the fastest Resident Member of the University. The current owner has owned it since July 1986. The car comes with a good history file dating back to July 1986, along with a document showing the results achieved at the C.U.A.C. Speed Trials.
Recent work carried out on this car by Spencer Lane-Jones Ltd, the Bristol specialists, includes structural work under both front wings and coachwork/chassis repairs. The engine and gearbox were overhauled in 1996-97 by BMW specialist M. Garfit.
