Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air four door hardtop. This piece of automotive history has remained in the same family since it was first purchased in Swainsboro, Georgia by the current owners grandparents. The car was given to our client in 1979. It has been garaged and well-maintained for 65 years, and its overall condition is a testament to a lifetime of care. Mileage, at just under 68,000, is believed to be original. This Bel Air was bought new at the Daniels Chevrolet Company of Swainsboro for $2388.75. Options noted on the invoice include a heater, Power Pack, two tone paint, automatic transmission, and electric windshield wipers. Under the hood is the 283 cubic inch V8 motor. It starts with ease and runs smoothly and quietly. All lights, gauges, and accessories are in excellent working order; braking is handled by a dual reservoir master cylinder with power discs up front and drums in the rear (originally this car had single-circuit manual drum brakes - the power disc brake setup is a very welcome upgrade, and the only deviation from stock). This body on this pillarless sedan is straight and solid, and the undercarriage remains very tidy consistent with a low-mileage car. The black and white two-two paint job is slick and holding up quite nicely. Records indicate that this car was painted once in the 1980s, and it received a second high quality paint job in 2003. The dashboard was refinished at the same time, and it received new chrome as well. The red and black interior presents very well, with only one small tear in a seam on the drivers seat. A set of Chevrolet branded rubber floor mats are included. Included with the sale are the original sales documents, owners literature, records, and photos. This very attractive example with single-family ownership history is ready for its next 65 years of cruising.
