A mean blackout style, four-on-the-floor, an upgraded suspension, and a well-built big block are the kind of recipe for muscle car success. But this 1966 Chevrolet Malibu Chevelle also seems to appreciate its classic side, especially inside. The result is a proper power car that doesnt lose the vintage atmosphere. The black paint has a glossy finish that gets noticed. Its a mean attitude furthered by a cowl hood, dual exhaust tips, and aggressive sport tires on the upgraded Ridler 17-inch alloys. But the piano-like black also adds sophistication. The clean-looking sides, flying buttress rear pillars, and upgraded black vinyl top all extra emphasis to this classy impression. But what we like most of all is how nothing Is overdone. There are plenty of improvements and upgrades, but its all done tastefully so this proudly remains a Chevelle with a tidy black and chrome style. So this is an iconic year for the Chevelle, and this hardtop respects that level of style. The interior furthers the idea of good upgrades while keeping a vintage feeling. After all, the bench seat style always feels like classic American cruising. But the full red package is an upgrade late in life. This includes inhaling deeper with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, better cooling with a large aluminum radiator, and headers that add power and dignified rumble to the X-pipe dual exhaust and Pypes mufflers. Its a powerful package that loves to run, and you get to fully harness it with the Muncie four-speed manual transmission. As you look underneath, you see the clean look of a proper restoration investment. Youll also spot plenty of suspension upgrades like the tubular front A-Arms, tubular rear four-link arms, newer bushings, and thick sway bars front & rear.
