Seller's comments about 1960' Chevrolet Corvette

Created by long-term General Motors designer Harley Earl and the Special Projects team, this very special Corvette C1 was virtually hand built in Flint, Michigan at the Chevrolet Customer Delivery Centre in 1960.
This super piece of Americana was imported to the UK following its purchase in 1991 having been sourced privately from a collector of Corvette C1 models who lived in Merritt Island in Florida, and it was clearly a very much loved car as the owner kept it for 25 years.
It is well documented that the most sought-after C1 Corvettes have the 327ci engine with a 4-speed manual transmission.
What makes this particular car so special is that it was returned to the factory in Michigan in 1966 for an official upgrade and installation of the larger 327ci, 5. 4 litre block. The 4-speed manual transmission makes this car even more enjoyable to drive with the extra cubic inches from the period factory upgrade.
This Corvette comes with a period 1960’s red hardtop and has the classic colour combination of white with red side scallops and red leather interior. The car was painted and trimmed in 1993 and it is a testament to the quality of the work that the car looks so good almost 30 years later. It has also benefitted from a new hood.
During the previous custodians’ 25 year ownership the C1 has been cosseted and has had much work completed, including a front disc brake upgrade, new radiator, stainless exhaust, seat belts fitted, and proved completely reliable having been maintained regardless of cost.
This beautiful and rare C1 was part of the thriving UK-American motoring scene winning various awards including Best Classic Corvette at Tatton Park. The car was enjoyed during the summer months and covered approximately 20, 000 miles over the long-term ownership.
Our client purchased the Corvette in 2016, and has used it sparingly since then covering only 500 miles in the last 6 years. The car is only for sale as additional garage space is required due to the recent purchase of a vintage car.
On the open road, the drive is exhilarating with a super V8 exhaust note, the upgraded front disc brakes making a huge improvement to the enjoyment of the car. On a recent drive, young Master Hardman showed his distinct approval of the sound and performance!
