We are proud to offer this sublime Chevrolet Corvette C2 Stingray Convertible. The car has been on exhibition for most of its life at a Dutch automotive museum. Displayed in awe for over 40 years next to the new Corvettes and Cadillacs being sold across that period. Soon after this it was finally scooped up, fully restored and owned privately for 12 years before reaching its most recent owner.
Year on year, the Corvette C2 continues to gain in popularity in large steps. Which is totally justified, the granddaddy of muscle car roadsters has everything a classic car needs: beautiful lines, a powerful engine, a universally known with a name that continued from its predecessor to its successor. Many distinctive Corvette features are present in the Stingray; long nose, compact cabin and a short back end with peaked fenders. The grille and bumper are also styled differently to that of previous models. The C2 also boasts its signature pair of folding pop-up headlights... a first love for many classic car lovers.
The current vendor has lovingly looked after the Stingray over the years with many aesthetic and mechanical upgrades. Over the past 12 months, over £15, 000 has been spent on the car. A complete respray has been carried out in the original and striking Elkhart Blue compliments the original Teal Blue Interior and White Soft Top. Detailed not only under bonnet but the whole underside of the vehicle has been finished in Satin Black at the time of respray. The addition of slim band, white wall, radial tyres all-round, giving a refresh to the original red line cross ply tyres. The undercarriage boasts a fully rebuilt, automatic Powerglide gearbox, custom built twin exhaust system. New 4-pot brake calipers align with the original vented brake discs all-round. A recent full service and battery replacement has been carried out at the time of M. O. T.
The car has not yet been formally registered in the UK though it passed an MOT in August 2022 with no advisory. Supporting this is the NOVA certificate proving all taxes and duties have been paid. We hold the Dutch title of the vehicle. We can organise with an agent (at the buyers request) to formally register the car in the UK with the DVLA or pass the Dutch title on with the cars for overseas buyers.
The Stingray is a rare sighting upon these shores and will sit well with an owner who appreciates the American greats. A fine creature originally restored in the early millennium by a museum, who put classics at the forefront.
As with all of our vehicles, we have a digital folder available on request containing more images, walk-around videos, pictures of the underside and scans of the service history. The car can be viewed by appointment at our West London showroom.
