Back from the future - John DeLorean always wanted to build an "ethical" car - safe, durable and of course sustainable. He was of the opinion that the future belonged to compact, high-quality vehicles with efficient engines and safe occupant protection. – What a vision, miles ahead of its time from today's perspective.
The design was implemented by Giorgetto Giugiaro, who also created style-defining design classics such as the Lotus Esprit and Lancia Delta. The 2.8-litre V6 engine was developed jointly by Peugeot, Renault and Volvo; the technical development up to series production was taken over by Lotus under the leadership of Colin Chapman.
So it's no wonder that this vehicle has become an absolute cult design classic.
