On offer we have a unique opportunity to acquire an ex Mille Miglia 1950, very original “Topolino”!

Even though this 1948 Fiat 500 B was one of the smallest production cars in the world back in the days when it was manufactured, it acquired an impressive and extensive racing proficiency that many larger race cars can’t possibly match. Strada e Corsa is offering the unique opportunity to own this impressive piece of Italian road racing history and one of the most adored classic compact cars.

The first recorded race of this matching numbers Topolino was in July 1949, shortly after it was delivered to Mr. Salice on October 9, 1948. The car was registered by Scuderia Treviso from the eponymous Italian county. In 1949 participated in the Coppa Inetrnazionale Delle Dolomiti resulting in a 54th place overall and 4th in the 750 cc Turismo class. In 1950 this ‘mouse’ finished 141st in the Mille Miglia and 24th in the 750 Turismo category with an average speed of 84,51 km/h. Quite an achievement for a little car with a 110 km/h top speed. Other important achievements were the Coppa Del Pasubio in 1950 and the Coppa Delle Dolimiti in that same year.

This Topolino is extensively prepared for classic (road) racing events and participated in the Mille Miglia in 2017 and 2018 and is member of the‘Registro Mille Miglia’. There is also an personal invitation from the organisation of the Coppa Piave Revial, a race this Topolino also competed in when it was still part of the motorsport calendar.

1949 - 3rd Coppa Internationale della dolomiti
1950 - Coppa Piave
1950 - 17th Mille Miglia, finished 141 oa!
1950 - Chiusaforte- Sella Nevea
1950 - 4th Coppa Internationale della Dolomiti
1950 - Coppa Pasubio

We offer this buzzing little hornet with a complete history showing all the previous owners and an extensive file containing a ‘foglio complementare’, authentic pictures and race documents, an original Italian licence plate and an FIA registration. The car will be delivered with a Dutch title and is ready for immediate action. Please let us know if you are interested in historic racing, hill climbing or club meetings with this famous and laureled Topolino.

Unique to this Topolino is the special Weber Manifold with two Weber carburetors.

The car has three owners to date. It was acquired from the second owner, who had it stored since 1950. He bought it in 1950 for his son, coming out of the 1950 racing season. It was located in Trevisio in its original condition. No engine lock what so ever! The car has never been restored.

In 2016 the car has been technically prepared for the Mille Miglia, this required a major technical overhaul to bring it to excellent running condition!

Interior has remained untouched, is completely original and minor work has been done to the exterior.

We can also provide maintenance and rally or track support within Europe in case you are going to continue this Fiat’s impressive motorsport career.
