Seller's comments about 1976' Ford Escort 1.6 Gl
1976 ford escort 1.6 gl 4 door. Rhd import from sunny south africa. Nova declaration has been done but will need motd and uk registered. We can advise / assist you with this process. Fairly solid original old car will be tax exempt. The car starts stops runs and drives and was in daily use in sa.
body - early type mk2 escort 4 door shell with the larger strut top holes. Original inner wings, strut tops, sills, arches, good doors boot, bonnet. Doesnt look like its been welded previously but will need a few minor repairs to front floors, spare wheel well and small bit at the bottom of the heater bubble. Paint is decent. The car is very presentable but there are a few minor rust bubbles on the bottom of the nsf door and on the o/s front edge of the bonnet. Both rear arches have paint chips which have been touched up. Struts tops have been scratched. This is done in sa by the police when they are checking the vin no prior to export.
mechanics - good 1600 crossflow which starts and runs fine with no smoke or rattles. Standard 4 speeed gearbox and drivetrain. Brakes are good clutch is fine.
interior - retrimmed seats and door cards. Seats are good. Passenger door card material is coming away from the doorcard which is an easy fix. Dashtop has been retrimmed also at some stage.
wheels - standard gl steels with 165 tyres
this is a fairly decent standard old car which could be turned into something really nice without too much work. Please feel free to come and view the car. I have a ramp so you can look underneath. Delivery can also be arranged if required. Please ask for a quote.
