1986' Ford Fiesta Xr2

For everyone that missed it last time round, our truly, truly stunning little Fiesta XR2 is back with us!

We had the privilege of marketing and re-homing this incredible Fiesta a short while ago. Our customer purchased it with the intention of using it if the weather allowed... the reality is, it just won't get used due to its condition and mileage!

Finished in quite possibly the rarest colour, Paris Blue Metallic, this exceptional rare and early survivor is sure to make its mark on the show scene! We do know of one that has covered just 900 miles from new, however that car is not for sale and maybe never will be! This incredible little car is the lowest mileage one that is known to exist to the XR Owners Club.

For all the perfectionists and collectors seeking originality and the 'best of the best' ...you won't find a better, more original and un-molested example! It is quite simply...sensational!

It goes without saying that the car still retains all of its factory fitted panels and paint. The cost option Paris Blue metallic paintwork is just stunning throughout with only a couple of small, well touched in chips to the lower, near side door and a small mark on the drivers door. The panel fit is superb and all factory stamps and dates are clearly visible. Original supplying dealer number plates are still fitted front and rear and in perfect condition. The original plastic towing eye cover is still in place! All rubbers are still soft and supple and the factory glass and lights are unmarked. The factory sunroof glass is crystal clear. The bumpers are unmarked and the Red inserts are vivid and as new. To see a Fiesta XR2 in such an original and un-messed with condition, 31 years after production is just remarkable!

Internally, the car is completely original as you would expect. The Rainbow seats are showing zero signs of wear. The bolsters are firm and the shape is perfect. The cloth is still tight with no stretching at all. The carpets are as new, along with the door cards, dashboard, headlining, gear knob and steering wheel. The original radio cassette is still in place and in perfect working order. Open the door and the 1980s Ford smell is very evident. A full set of original Ford rubber mats are present. The boot carpet is like new along with the plastic rear panels. The un-refurbished spare wheel still remains and is fitted with the correct Pirelli P6 tyre.

The original "Pepperpot" alloy wheels remain in an excellent, un-refurbished condition. 4 brand new quality tyres are fitted... the original factory fit Pirelli P6s are provided with the car and could be used for show purposes. The tyres were replaced due to ageing.

Mechanically the car is perfect. Having benefitted from a very recent cam belt service, the car requires nothing. It starts instantly and the automatic choke works perfectly. It soon settles in to a smooth and near silent idle. The genuine Ford exhaust has that rasp that these cars were known for. We must admit, we haven't carried out any lengthy test drives as you can imagine, but the car drives as new. The gearbox is a delight!

Registered new on the 26th March 1986 by Fryers Ford, this incredible example stayed with its first owner for over ten years. It was then purchased and kept on display in a heated showroom for some thirteen years. It was then discovered and purchased by a very well known member of the XR Owners Club, who used the car very sparingly if and when the weather permitted. It has since formed a part of three impressive, private collections.

Complete with the original owners hand book pack including the original service book, two original Ford keys, current V5 registration document and a history file including thirteen old mot certificates. A full 12 months mot will be provided upon sale.

In summary, we know that this car isn't cheap. We also know that it is without doubt the best example that is currently on the open market. It is unique and quite possibly un-repeatable. We don't know where values will go with the classic car market, but we do know that completely original, untouched and un-messed with examples will always be the most sought after and they will always command a massive premium above the norm. We have never, ever used the term "time warp" in any of our adverts, but this car truly is!
