Seller's comments about 1929' Ford Model A

Between 1927 and 1931 Ford rolled out nearly 5 million Model As and like the Model T before it the Model A assumed the role of a universal vehicle being used for everyday transport farming and just about any commercial application imaginable. Rugged simple and easily adaptable the Model A was relied on by millions of people and its enduring charm means it continues to be one of the most widely adored collector vehicles in the world. This fascinating Ford is a wonderful example of the Model As versatility. This genuine United States Postal Service truck features a specially-designed wooden body by York-Hoover body works designed specifically for U.S. Mail service in the 1930s. In the early 1960s Jack Dixon of Pennsylvania discovered this Model A mail truck sitting in a junk yard being used to keep hubcaps and other small parts away from prying eyes. As a Model A enthusiast he was fascinated by the unusual body and impressed by the trucks remarkable condition so made a deal to buy it. On bringing it home Dixon found it was incredibly well-preserved and began the process of carefully stripping away layers of house paint to find the original USPS lettering and the truck number 10205 still intact. After much research and studying about Model A U.S. Mail trucks Mr. Dixon sourced the few missing pieces from other original donors and treated 10205 to a full restoration which he detailed to exacting period-correct standards. After many years of enjoyment showing the Model A in AACA shows in the Pennsylvania region Dixon sold the truck and it changed hands a few times through the years though it always landed in the care of attentive collectors along the way who recognized its importance. In recent years it was displayed at the Saratoga Auto Museum for a period on loan from a significant Northeast-based collection. As offered here the authentic restoration is well-preserved despite being done in the 1960s and the truck presents with a lovely careworn patina. Accompanying documentation includes magazine articles information on antique mail trucks and reprint factory drawings for the York-Hoover body. This charming Model A is a must-have for any early Ford enthusiast and would be a wonderful centerpiece to virtually any collection of Americana.
