I had to go to a wedding in Australia so we rolled it in to a long Holliday.Horrified at the cost of a hire car that wasn't a total embarrassment to e seen in I had a brainwave.
Buy a cool classic car in Australia before we land, use it for our Holliday then ship it back to England how hard could it be.
1.eBay Australia,
2. Postal code of Melbourne airport.
3. Classic cars
4. Nearest first.
In about 3 hours I had chosen the car I wanted just 5 miles from Melbourne airport .
I chose a blue 66 mustang V8 Auto, partly because I drive one in the UK and know these baby's are very durable, simple and a great cruising car over long distances. It belonged to Phil Walters president of the mustang owners club and his wife had been driving it for a couple of years, this helped to.
He called it a 9 yard car? He meant it was very nice at nine yards but not perfect when your next to it. Sounded just right for the rigours of the Australian out back.
The cars very reliable and drives great sounds just like a V8 should, I loved every minute,of driving it and really covered some miles, close to 3000.Toured the great ocean road and cleaned the red dust of it with hotel towels every morning much to my girlfriends horror.Even got lost in the outback and had to sleep in it,not recommended.
In short it's a great car with a very nice interior low mileage, 53,000, came from a dry state Phil made sure of that, very rust free,as good underneath as on top.
Never meant to sell muzzle but I split with my girlfriend recently and it brings back to many memories some good some bad. All road legal in the UK now eventually DVLA need shooting tax exempt.
