For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a one of a kind 1955 Ford Thunderbird. Power comes from a Chevy 396 Big Block and a 6-71 Blower! Certainly enough power for this lightweight. The body is fiberglass and it has a narrowed rear end plus a Mustang II front end. Power is sent to the rear wheels via TH-350 automatic, Ford 9" and 3.55 gears. Front disc brakes will slow you down in a hurry. In addition to this wild build, it is also equipped with Power windows, radio and a Power trunk lid. The looks of this Thunderbird will draw a crowd from anywhere. Bright red, convertible, blower sticking out of the hood and fat Mickey Thompson tires out back. Of course if you don't see this car coming, you'll hear it! It's not too loud but will certainly let you know that it means business. The rumble from the Big block and the whine from the blower, yes that will do it. Inside is a stock Thunderbird bench seat, modified gauges, switches for the electric fuel pump, electric cooling fan, ignition and a power cutoff in the glove box. The trunk is finished nicely and features a fuel cell in between he rear tubs for the giant rear wheels. Top up or top down, this is a fun car. For those of you that like the look of the old Thunderbirds but need double the power, look no further.
