Hi, I have a Mk1 Ford Transit drop-side truck, twin rear-wheel, 2 previous owners, and 35, 000 genuine miles on the clock. This has been in storage for years, prior to the restoration work last year.
Its one of the straightest and most original examples I have come across, with only a couple of minor areas of welding carried out in the past, all original chassis and floors.
It has recently been fully re-sprayed. The chassis has been fully sprayed, underside of the cab, engine bay, inside and outside of the truck and obviously the panels etc aswell.
I have a fully restored original drop-side bed sitting on the chassis; The bed has been stripped, all metalwork stripped back, treated with red oxide first, and finished in the same 2k as the truck itself. The bed deck and sides have all been replaced with sustainably sourced, quality character grade English Oak, milled to my specifications from a firm in Devon. The Oak has then been generously coated with Osmo UV rated oil, glued and fitted and oiled another couple of times to seal.
I have two v4 2. 0l petrol engines and gearboxes for the truck. One I believe could be the original, and has been stripped so is in bits, boxed up and ready for a rebuild. The second is a complete and over-hauled engine, not long removed from a running van. I also have boxes of ancillaries, prob 2 or 3 of everything.
Nice original headlining fitted. Cab floor painted black, ready to take the carpets/ matts.
I have been gathering parts for it, and will continue with this, but there is a NOS pair of Tex mirrors boxed, new screen rubbers, very good condition drivers seat, not so great condition passenger seat, box of door parts and glass, bumper, rear lights, new pressed metal number plates, lovely original workshop manual... Only bits missing are door glass, and door cards and door rubbers etc from what I can gather (And I do know a firm that can supply all these missing parts).
Its a stunning example so far and will far outshine many over examples once its finished, just such a solid and original example.
V5 has been applied for as was lost by previous owner in the move, but will be forwarded onto the new owner when the DVLA have sorted it (everything seems to be taking time at the moment with DVLA due to pandemic and backlogs of paperwork).
Great truck for the money, and a great project to complete.
I am happy to organise transport anywhere in the UK at buyers expense, if needed.
Thanks, Matt
