The Horch 901 was a passenger vehicle for the German Wehrmacht, which has been developed in 1935/36 at the Horch Factory in Zwickau from the Auto Union, to requirements of the Heereswaffenamt as a medium weight standard passenger vehicle with independent suspension and 4 wheel drive.

At the same time the Siegmar (formerly Wanderer) factory, belonging to Auto Union Company, built about 16.000 vehicles with Horch V8-engines and Opel Blitz-six cylinder engines (75 PS) as Wanderer 901. Between 1938 and 1943 the Opel factory in Brandenburg built at least 3860 mid weight standard vehicles with Opel-six cylinder engine under licence.

At the outside central fitted on both sides of the car, there were one spare wheel which function as a support wheel respectively as an axis while driving over small hills. From 1940 on one do without these, one spare wheel was now placed in the vehicles interior. Simoultaneously the body and the interior of the "Typ 40" could be designed much larger. In favour of the more versatile Mercedes-Benz 1500 A and the Steyr 1500 A, which offered a higher payload, the production of the mid weight standard vehicles were ceased in 1943.

This Horch 901 was completely restored and is ready for the next upcoming event!
