IFA F9 Cabrio (EMW 309-2) The IFA F9, subsequently rebadged as the EMW 309, is a compact saloon manufactured under the auspices of the Russian and East German states between 1949 or 1950 and 1956. It was initially built at Zwickau at the plant previously owned by Auto Union. In 1953 production was transferred to the EMW, former BMW manufacturing plant at Eisenach under the name EMW 309 until 1956 where its underpinnings subsequently found their way into the Wartburg 311. Surviving F9s appear largely restricted to saloon versions, but various sports and cabriolet versions were also produced. For sale We have a very nice IFA F9 Cabrio with beautiful violet and black paint, and lovely brown interior. This vehicle was sold new in Finland and has had only three main owners. It has recently had a mild restoration, which included new paint, new roof, new carpets and re-chromed bumpers. Mechanics, fittings and seats are original. Throughout the restoration it was noticed that many of the fittings are stamped with the number 37, this number is also stamped in the engine bay. We have a couple of photos prior to the restoration, and it is clearly visible that the car was in good shape and not rusted.
