This is a genuine matching-numbers example (Chassis no. 885461 / Engine no. R3556-9) that was originally dispatched to Jaguar Cars, New York, in January 1962.This highly sought-after early specification car features the flat floor, welded bonnet louvres, aluminium centre console, and retains all the hallmarks that make the first-generation E-Types so special.The car underwent a total nut-and-bolt restoration by respected UK Jaguar specialists Butlins & Sons Classic Cars in 2006, when it was also converted to right-hand drive and fitted with an upgraded all-synchromesh gearbox. The original Gearbox is still in storage and will be included in the sale. Additional enhancements include an extra cooling fan and full Waxoyl anti-corrosion treatment.In 2015, the engine was entrusted to AMK Engineering for a fast road rebuild costing over £8, 000.
