Seller's comments about 1968' Jaguar E Type
Manufactured on the 19th April 1968, the car was fitted with a Webasto sunroof and Sundym windscreen during its early life and was used until late 1972 when it was dry stored due to the owner's ill health. During this time it covered approximately 31,000 miles.
Following the owner's death in 1985 it was purchased by its 3rd keeper, a repairer and restorer. During the next 9 years the car was totally stripped (apart from the interior which is original) and rebuilt as a personal project. The only body parts needing replacement were the bonnet underpan and a small section of the rear nearside wheel arch. The body was then comprehensively prepared, including removal of underseal. It was resprayed with fifteen coats of paint.
The engine was completely rebuilt, a new clutch was fitted and suspension components were replaced.
In 1994, 22 years after being laid up, still with less than 32,000 recorded miles, the car was taxed and MoTd and put back on the road.
It has since been maintained without compromise and has been fitted with an Eagle racing 5 speed gearbox.
