Seller's comments about 1968' Jaguar Mark II

First registered in January 1968 (F Reg) this Opalescent Silver Grey Jaguar Mark 2 340 Manual / Overdrive with Red Interior has an exceptionally comprehensive history, (numerous pages of invoices and ownership history present) for a Mark 2 Jaguar that will soon be approaching its sixtieth birthday. Supplied when new by the then Jaguar Main Dealer in Brighton to the London and Edinburgh Insurance Company for use by their Director a Mr Broom. Mr Broom acquired the car from his employer at retirement and it remained in his family until 1999. Followed by just three keepers the most recent since 2015.

The 340 is the rarest of the Mark 2 cars with under 2, 800 cars manufactured. The addition of the straight port cylinder head from the E-Type bought the performance of the 340 very close to its predecessor the ubiquitous 3. 8, (the bank robbers’ favourite) with 210 bhp on tap and a top speed of 124 mph.

Appropriately enhanced by its Black Wire Wheels and Coombes Rear Arch Spats this 340 is driving very well and is an eminently useable classic as is. But we are offering this rare car on the basis that there are a few minor cosmetics that could be improved however given that very good to excellent examples of this model are often command £20, 000 more than our asking price we feel there is scope for the next owner to go as far as they may want to create one of the very best 340’s around.....
