The Interceptor represents the perfect fusion of transatlantic motoring character — a hand-built British grand tourer, powered by Chrysler’s legendary 440ci V8, and styled by the famed Italian design house Carrozzeria Touring.The convertible was launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1974. Including prototypes, only 512 convertibles were produced, with relatively few entering the European market as the car was intended predominantly for the USA.This Jensen Interceptor MkIII convertible - chassis number 2311/ 1658 - was built for the US market in June 1975. Finished in Midnight Blue with a Black Interior, this example is from the sought-after MkIII range, which brought significant refinements over its predecessors — including improved ride comfort, better interior appointments, and revised bumpers to meet US standards. The car was brought back to the UK in 2018 and has since been completely renovated and upgraded with over £60, 000 spent.This included upgrades to the powertrain with electronic ignition, stainless steel exhaust and cooling system upgrade, as well as the addition of a Fosseway Performance braking system. The body was also extensively restored and resprayed Midnight Blue with the seats being renovated and retrimmed. The car has recently been received and inspected by Cropredy Bridge Cars.
