The Series I was launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show; its brief was for farm and light industrial use. War films had shown the public how versatile the Jeep was and this, combined with the fact that new cars were almost unobtainable menat that the launch of the Land-Rover was almost an assured success, also helped by the plentiful supply of raw materials from aircraft manufacture. This Series I is an unfinished project; with much of the hard work already carried out, it just requires completion. A V5c has been applied for and it is hoped that it will be with the vehicle by the time of the auction.
This and 60 other classic cars will be sold at auction, on March 4th at Allington, Chippenham, Wiltshire SN14 6LJ
