Seller's comments about 1965' Land Rover Series 2A

For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD, Land Rover® Series 2a Ragtop in Light Pastel Green (1965).
Petrol 2286cc. MOT & Tax Exempt. Galvanised Chassis Rebuild in 2024 with lots of new parts- lots of photographs of restoration on a USB Stick included in sale. Overdrive. Heater with Front Demist. “Banjo” Steering Wheel. Deluxe Seats. Recent Canvas with Side Windows. Brand New 750 Chevron JB 4×4 Tyres. New Springs. Towbar and Electrics. Period “4D” Vintage Number Plates.
Here we have for sale a very recently rebuilt Series 2a Land Rover®, presented in the popular Light Pastel Green colour scheme with Limestone Wheels and Sand Canvas with Side Windows. Whilst those who follow us know we get galvanised chassis Series 2as regularly, finding one which has been done in the last year with a plethora of receipts (and most importantly a USB pen stacked with photos) is very uncommon and makes this one quite special!
Externally – we feel the photos do speak for themselves. Not only are there a plethora of period features such as the 4D vintage number plates, rear grab handles, wing top mounted mirrors, etc but there is also evidence of money spent to the discerning eye – the brand new 750 chevron tyres, the recent canvas with side windows and the recent towbar and electrics kit… all great to see. We don’t feel we need to tell you what this package adds up to… any customer can see the appeal and we think you’d struggle to find a more handsome Series than this one.
On the inside, there are three front deluxe seats with matting to the footwells, and a heater with front de misting vents, which will be very welcome in the colder months of the year. What is nice to see is the period features such as the individual wiper motors and early “Banjo” steering wheel are still present, as they are often missing. The rear is unfitted, with the exception of a load mat for the floor area – this could house bench seats for £595 to bring seating to seven people including the driver, meaning the whole family can come along wherever you choose to go. The added bonus of the canvas having side windows not only means improved visibility whilst driving, but also a much lighter and airy feel to the cabin when driving along, which is very welcome.
So – to the rebuild itself – this vehicle had new Richards galvanised chassis fitted in 2024 – backed up by the dated photos on the USB pen – and many new parts besides including new brakes, springs, shock absorbers – etc etc. The chassis was then painted to match the original uniform black from factory. The result is a vehicle which feels about as good as a period Series can ever really feel – the larger wheels and tyres and overdrive mean you can keep in the modern traffic flow without bleeding ear drums and with much improved fuel economy over standard – and the new suspension items means a good quality of ride, which is always nice when having to go over speed bumps or a rutted field. It is a joy to drive, particularly in the good weather right now, with the back rolled up, the shades on and the windows and vents open.
If you are looking for a rebuilt Series which you can pass down through the family, which also, based on historic trends, will be a solid investment for the future, then this has to be worth considering. We rarely see such “fresh” rebuilds outside of our own programme, and we think this one not only represents outstanding value for money, being half the price of an “as new” build, but also it is physically available now and ready for immediate delivery. Don’t forget – it is also MOT and Tax Exempt and benefits from Classic Insurance too – so it shouldn’t cost the earth to own, either.
