Rear Mud Flaps. Here we have for sale an early Series 3 Land Rover, being from the first year of full production of the marque in 1972. This particular example is finished in the popular Light Pastel Green colour scheme, with Limestone Wheels and Sand canvas.Externally, there are lots of period features one would hope to see on a good, early Series 3 – the deluxe bonnet, 3D vintage number plates, rear grab handles, rear mud flaps, front lamp guards, front tow ball to allow trailers to be mounted “face on” for manoeuvrability into the tightest spaces, a rear tow bar with modern electrics to allow towing out on the road, larger defender style door mirrors for increased visibility whilst driving, etc etc. A set of larger Michelin 4×4 road biased tyres is fitted for increased gearing and to fill the arches for a positive stance, along with a matching Michelin bonnet mounted spare…. the recent canvas completes the look and the photos speak for themselves – the right mix between period features and modern touches to make things more liveable. The front interior houses a trio of deluxe seats, along with original OEM floor mats to the footwells – which have often gone missing over the years, and are nice to see – the dash has also been re-trimmed, which is a nice touch too. Door cards are fitted to the front lower doors for that premium feel. The rear has been lined with deluxe trim and sound deadening, to reduce cabin noise – even the tailgate chains have covers to stop them rattling against the bodywork in transit, which is a nice touch. Should you be wanting to carry passengers in the rear, a set of bench seats can be fitted for £595 to bring seating to seven people including the driver – meaning the whole family can come along if so desired.Out on the road, this old girl provides a pleasing period drive, which is enhanced by a number of features – the Weber carburettor gives superior power over standard, whilst the larger wheels and with road biased Michelin tyres extend the gearing to relax engine noise in the cruise, improve fuel economy and improve road holding too. AVM free wheeling hubs are also fitted, which give further fuel economy and reduce front axle wear and prevent differential wind up. There is a high performance battery fitted… whilst experience tells us it is not really required, it is nice to note that even in the very coldest temperatures, you won’t be short of electrical juice to start up when it is -10 in the winter – and you need your Series 3 the most!In summary then – if you are looking for a Series 3 Land Rover for the upcoming colder time of year (whilst still having the opportunity to enjoy wind in the hair motoring when you choose!), which comes backed with a major mechanical warranty directly from us, benefits from MOT and Tax exemption, petrol power and with some tasteful upgrades to make things easier to live with – this has to be worth consideration. It even has a decent folder of receipts for maintenance and repair over the years, which is not always a given… and having had only 7 owners since new in 1972 – you have the chance to be the newest custodian of this one…. being just her 8th owner in 53 years!Priced at £18, 995
