This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at Supercar Fest 2026 on Saturday the 16th of May, Sywell Aerodrome, Sywell, Northampton, NN6 0BN.
The Lotus Elan Series 4 was produced during the late 1960s and early 1970s and is widely regarded as one of the most engaging lightweight British sports cars of its era, combining advanced chassis design with compact dimensions and agile handling
This 1970 example is finished in red with a black interior and has been stored for many years, presenting today as a genuine barn find that will require full recommissioning
Like other Elan S4 models, it is powered by Lotus’ twin cam four-cylinder engine driving the rear wheels through a manual gearbox, a combination well known for delivering lively performance and excellent balance
Having been off the road since the late 1990s, the car will now require complete recommissioning, offering the next owner the opportunity to return it to the road or rebuild to their own preferred specification
Little is known of the earlier history, however the car was purchased by its late owner in November 1998 having had seven previous keepers and is now being offered for sale from a deceased estate
Believed to have been placed into garage storage shortly after its purchase in 1998 and unused since, this Lotus is remarkably solid and from the test cleaned area will respond well to recommissioning
