Seller's comments about 1971' Lotus Europa

For sale a rare Lotus Europa S2 (Federal/ UK hybrid). Part of a batch of cars originally destined for the USA, but converted back to RHD by Lotus, but retained many US features such as the side marker lamps. It left the Hethel factory in 1970 where it was shipped to Clarkes Garage in Narborough owned by well renowned racers most notably world rally champion Roger Clark.
The vehicle was road registered XAY 66J on 6th January 1971 where it was purchased by first owner Mr Harrison, he was kind enough to share the historic photographs along with the cartoon drawn in 1971.

Was sold to Mr Poxon who can still remember the day he bought it, his daughter sat on the centre tunnel every time he went out, she is now 54 years old.

Later sold to Mr Wormleighton whose family owned the Mallory Park Race Circuit.

Was sold Mr Russ in 1997 where due to showing signs of age underwent a full nut and bolt restoration including the fitting of a rebuilt Renault 1647cc Cross Flow engine, also a new chassis supplied by Kelvedon Lotus.

Car was sold to me where it forms part of my Lotus collection. DVLA records report only 41 Lotus Europa S2s remain licensed or SORN in the UK.

There is a very large portfolio of paperwork and images with the vehicle dating back to the early 1970s. History confirmed by Lotus archivist as one of the Federal/ UK hybrid cars with the correct PR marker on the VIN.

A stunning example that drives really well, only offered for sale to make room for another Lotus
