Vehicle History:
In September 1953, the US importer from Daimler-Benz, Maximilian ("Maxi") Hoffman, presented his ideas to the company's board of directors for increasing US business. He wanted two differently designed sports car models to complement the previously conservative Mercedes model range. Hoffman received a promise that from February 6 to 14, 1954 a study of these vehicles could be exhibited in New York at the "International Motor Sports Show." Despite the extremely short development time of only five months, prototypes of the 300 SL and 190 SL were produced, which were enthusiastically admired by visitors at the New York auto show and the trade press. This attractive Mercedes Benz 190 SL Roadster, like many of its type, was delivered to Max Hoffman in New York. In 2006 it came back to Germany. It has been with the same owner ever since. From 2008 to 2011 it was lovingly completely restored. Photos prove the time-consuming work. Classic Data has certified the grade of 1- in the report. The black hood is of Sonnenland quality. This Mercedes is immediately ready for the next trip.
