Seller's comments about 1957' Mercedes-Benz 220

The Mercedes-Benz 220 S Cabriolet (W180), produced between 1956 and 1959, epitomised German elegance in the 1950s. With fewer than 2, 200 examples produced, this convertible was a symbol of status, luxury and reliability at the time - qualities that make it a highly sought-after collector's item today. This example was most likely delivered new in Germany, with first registration on 14 October 1957. It was then imported to Italy in 1994, before arriving in Belgium in 2019. The vehicle has been registered in Belgium since October 2021, where it has been used and maintained with great care. It is presented in its original Anthracite Grey Metallic colour (code 172G), combined with a beautifully preserved red leather interior with matching wood trim and carpet. The black cloth soft top has recently been replaced and remains in excellent condition, making this a true matching numbers car. It retains its original engine, a 106bhp 2. 2-litre in-line 6-cylinder coupled to a 4-speed manual gearbox. The odometer currently reads 77, 000 km, and the car has benefited from a complete professional restoration. All major components - mechanical, body, interior, brakes and electrical - have been carefully overhauled or restored to the original specification, and the car is in very good overall condition, both mechanically and aesthetically. The chrome is shiny, the engine runs perfectly, and the clutch and gearbox work without a hitch. Inside, the leather, wood and materials have a slight patina, but no major defects.
