The "big" Ponton Mercedes 220 was produced as a luxury class series with a six-cylinder engine in the 220 S Cabriolet version between July 1956 - August 1959 in a quantity of 2,178. This convertible is considered a particularly successful development work because it was the first at Daimler-Benz to have a self-supporting body without roof struts, which required an extremely stiff and therefore heavier floor assembly to avoid body torsion.
Here we present you a copy from 1958, which was delivered to New York, USA. After a fulfilling life in America, the convertible was imported to Austria in 2011. Between 2015-2020, the vehicle was completely restored to the highest quality level, regardless of cost or effort. Accordingly, the mechanics, the body, the interior including the precious wood surrounds in the dashboard and doors, as well as all other components of this gem are in amazing, perfect condition. There is correspondingly detailed (photo) documentation about this very extensive work. In addition to the original, canceled US title, the vehicle also comes with a copy of the data card and the delivery document from Mercedes-Benz from November 1958, as well as the historical, Austrian individual permit.

By car, our location is directly via the A4 motorway, exit Bruck/L. West can be reached very quickly. Arriving by plane is very easy via the international airport Vienna-Schwechat (Vienna Airport), only 20 km away, or via Bratislava Airport, 35 km away. We would also be happy to pick you up personally from one of the two airports.
