Seller's comments about 1971' Mercedes-Benz 300 Sel 6.3
Delivered new in France in March 1971, as is attested by the manufacturer’s plate, this splendid luxury saloon still has its original colour scheme, with metallic beige paint matched by beige velvet upholstery. The precious original Blaupunkt radio is still installed. The finish, even after a number of decades, is still at a high level. In a condition which will appeal to those interested in restoration projects, this car has the advantage of being complete, other than the missing additional long range driving lights. After about 15 years in storage, this rare 300 SEL 6.3 is begging to be given the high quality restoration that she merits. There are indications of penetrative rusting in the wings, rear skirt, sills and floor. The structure will therefore need thorough renovation, as will the suspension and the pneumatic circuitry which enhanced the reputation of this sophisticated vehicle. The engine bay has some superficial corrosion but is basically sound. The interior has suffered little from the passage of time and still looks good with just a pleasing patina. The famous German quality of assembly has proved its value. The large radiator grill and the chromed wheel trims still enhance the majestic design of Paul Bracq. Lastly, this car has an outstanding history, as the registration document shows that she has been with the same owner since 1976. Single ownersip over nearly forty years, ending with prolonged storage, ensures that she has not suffered any molestation or dubious repairs and the present condition is consistnt with this
