Seller's comments about 1957' Mercedes-Benz S-Klasse

For sale is a Mercedes-Benz 220 S sedan from 1957. The model of the W 180 II series is considered a direct predecessor of the S-Class and was the epitome of the comfortable touring car in the 1950s. The Mercedes-Benz Ponton of the 220 series (particularly the W 180 II, better known as 220 S) was produced between 1956 and 1959 and is considered a luxury sedan of the upper class Middle class or upper class of the post-war period. As the successor to the Type 220a, it was characterized by its six-cylinder engine, the comfortable equipment and the modern pontoon body shape, namely rounded, strongly curved shapes in the automobile design of the 1950s.History & Condition:The vehicle has been in the current ownership since September 2015. Accordingly, the classic already has Austrian approval. The car was extensively restored, with emphasis on preserving the classic look and technical reliability.Technical details:- Engine: 2.2 liter 6-cylinder in-line engine (106 hp)- Chassis: Classic single-jointed swing axle at the rear, drum brakes all around.- Special feature: The large folding roof is fully functional and ensures a bright, airy interior.Investments made - In recent years, targeted investments have been made in the longevity of the Mercedes:- Body: Extensive underbody restoration and professional cavity sealing (cost approx. € 9,000).- Tires: New, wide whitewall tires for the contemporary look- Fuel system: A new tank was installed. The interior impresses with the combination of genuine leather and elaborate wood applications that was typical of the time, which are in a very well-maintained condition. This pontoon is not just a garage item, but a ready-to-drive classic for lovers of six-cylinder culture.
