Sales informationReady for the next ownerHave you had a genuine Mercedes-Benz 280 SL on your wish list for some time? Then you should definitely take a close look at this beautiful Pagoda from 1968, because it is well worth it.We have known the owner for over a decade and have sold him several cars before, and sold others on as well. So we know we are dealing with a true classic-car enthusiast, and that he always keeps his affairs in good order.This, for many the ultimate classic Mercedes, SL, was purchased by the owner in 2013 and has since been cherished and well maintained by the renowned Mercedes specialist Van Dijk from Lisserbroek. Of course the invoices are available.Originally the car came from Alabama, USA and was imported to the Netherlands in 2011.It is a very original car that was rock-solid and has only been given cosmetic refinements to our standards. Of course the beautiful hardtop painted in the body colour is also present. With the Pagoda shape, which is where the car gets its famous name.The blue interior is pristine, as is the blue mohair soft top.According to the available documents and the original so-called Wagenkarte, we are dealing with a matching-numbers car, with the exception of: and now the kicker!! an original Mercedes five-speed gearbox. This was installed later and we may call it super unique because they are not available at all.Because such a gearbox was factory-fitted to only a few cars, it is almost unheard of to find one sold separately. But the owner did manage to find such a five-speed and had it installed. And we must say, it is truly the cherry on the cake. Shifting is superb and that extra gear makes it a lot nicer than with a four-speed. Incidentally the original four-speed transmission is included with the car.But unfortunately enjoying a beautiful classic car also requires health that allows it. And although the owner could see the SL every day from his conservatory through the glass wall in the garage, that is of course not the way to enjoy it. Cars simply need to be driven regularly to stay in good condition.Therefore, after long consideration the decision was made that we could collect the SL. We always prefer to deliver a car properly rather than take a car away from the owner in this manner, but fortunately he made this decision himself, and he has assured us it is for the best.This opens a wonderful opportunity for a new owner. There are quite a few Pagodas for sale, but there is also a lot of junk in the mix. And our clients are not looking for that. With this SL we can offer a beautiful, complete car whose history is known and can be enjoyed straight away.
