Same ownership for just over 30 years. It is petrol driven with automatic transmission. Over £13, 000 spent on restoration costs, some £11, 000 of this spent with the top classic car restorers David Royle at Staindrop, with worksheets and invoices all available together with numerous correspondance. The work which was conducted during 2002 and 2007 when the car was at around 71, 000 to 72, 000 miles has included the provision of new sills, new chrome bumpers, new oil cooler, new soft top, new rubber seals on doors and boot, new brake master cylinder, new distributor cap and high tension leads, new floor sections, welded repairs to bulkhead, engine bay and inner wings. Full body respray including under the bonnet. Four new tyres were fitted in April 2025.
Since the restoration work it has only travelled 3, 000 miles and has been kept in a dry garage with a dehumidifier and never driven in the rain.
With history file containing V5C, copy of the original build sheet, 19 of MOT’s between 1994 and 2017, 42 pages of refurbishment worksheets and financial receipts of over £11, 000 from David Royle & Co, Staindrop, 28 pages of correspondance between Roger Tyrrell (the manager at David Royle) and the owner, and 11 pages of receipts for other work and various specialists amounting to £2, 360.
It is an historic vehicle and therefore tax and MOT exempt, however, it comes with a new MOT which is advisory free and is valid until May 2026.
It has been fitted with an electronic ignition by Bosch and Mercedes expert Darren Oliver at his Ferryhill workshop and valve guide oil seals were renewed at 70, 898 miles by Veloce of Harrogate. All receipts are available.
The interior seats are in good condition and it has a Blaupunkt radio/ cassette with electrical raise and lower aerial in working order. It is also fitted with a wind deflector. Sold with a detachable matching hard top and a purpose made stand.
Also included in the sale is a very large and comprehensive 2 volume hard copy Maintenance Manual which is no longer in print, additionally, the sale also includes a copy of David Royle’s extensive restoration book in which the car is pictured.
The Mercedes R107 roadster range was manufactured from 1971 until 1989 and they are often described as a durable dependable classic cars with bold straight lines which are sympathetic of their era. They represent a refined and practical route to classic car ownership.
