984 Mercedes-Benz 380 SL – Rust-free California Import
Built in April 1984, this Mercedes-Benz 380 SL was recently sourced by us in the San Francisco Bay Area. According to the VIN report, it has been registered in California since at least 1997, and is very likely a lifelong California car. The odometer shows 105. 202 miles, with consistent mileage history and no accident reports. A clean California title and European import document (duties paid) are included.
Originally delivered in Signal Red with a black leather interior, the car was resprayed silver grey many years ago. The paint is now faded and the car will need a full repaint – the ideal opportunity to bring it back to its striking factory colour scheme. The engine bay still shows in its original red.
The body is rust free and accident free, making it an excellent foundation for further work. The car runs and drives, but has been little used in recent years and requires recommissioning: servicing, new tyres, replacement of consumables and attention to the brakes and suspension.
Inside, the black leather seat upholstery shows tears and will need partial or complete re-trimming. The dashboard top has sun cracks, as often seen on Californian cars. The hardtop is present; the soft top condition is unknown and should be assumed to require replacement.
