011850The SL series 107, which came onto the market in 1971 as the successor to the so-called Pagoda (Mercedes-Benz W 113), founded a new design line at Mercedes-Benz with the broadband H4 headlights and the large, grooved taillights. A slight wedge shape indicated improved aerodynamics. The designer responsible for this series was once again Friedrich Geiger, who was already responsible for the timeless creations of the 300 SL (including Roadster) and the Mercedes-Benz 500 K.[1] The appearance of the R 107 was a defining style of Mercedes-Benz design in the 1970s. Many details can also be found in the S-Class, the Mercedes-Benz W 116, which was introduced in 1972.
