Seller's comments about 1970' MG MGB
1970 MGB Roadster – Concours Restoration | 5-Speed Gearbox | £40, 000+ RestorationJust arrived at The Forge is an exceptional 1970 MGB Roadster, the subject of an extensive £40, 000 nut-and-bolt restoration completed between 2021 and 2024 by renowned British classic car specialists Carn Bosavern Garage.Originally supplied to the UK market, this outstanding Roadster underwent a comprehensive, no-expense-spared restoration with virtually every component either restored, rebuilt or replaced. The body shell was stripped to bare metal before receiving a stunning repaint in its current colour scheme, while the front and rear axles were removed, refinished and rebuilt with new suspension, steering and braking components throughout. The restoration was carried out with usability and reliability firmly in mind, incorporating a host of carefully selected upgrades. These include a desirable Mazda five-speed gearbox conversion, electronic ignition, aluminium radiator, electric cooling fan, upgraded suspension, stainless steel exhaust system and numerous performance enhancements to the engine. The result is an MGB that retains all the charm of the original while delivering a far more refined and enjoyable driving experience. The car presents beautifully both inside and out, with a striking specification that combines period character with subtle modern improvements. A premium Royal Blue mohair hood, custom leather interior, wool carpets, Moto-Lita steering wheel and integrated Bluetooth audio system further elevate what is already one of the finest examples we have encountered. We acquired the car from a respected local collector whose carefully curated collection is known for containing only the highest-quality classic and sports cars. Having handled several exceptional MGBs in recent years, we can confidently say this example ranks amongst the very best.Exterior Specification- Halogen headlight upgrade- Lucas front-mounted driving lamps- 15" MWS Competition chrome wire wheels with two-eared spinners- Period-style Blockley 165HR14 tyres with excellent tread depth- Chrome boot-mounted luggage rack- Reversing lights- New hood frame- Royal Blue mohair hood- Matching padded Royal Blue hood cover- Fibreglass bonnet with twin gas struts- Stainless steel bumpers and overriders- New windscreenInterior Specification- Royal Blue wool carpets- Custom mid-blue door cards with powder blue pinstriping- MG-branded rubber floor mats- Fully refurbished dashboard- Smiths instrument set comprising speedometer, rev counter, fuel, oil pressure and water temperature gauges- Blue backlit instrument lighting- Two-speed heater fan- Two-speed windscreen wipers- Electrically operated windscreen washer jets- Custom MGOC high-back reclining leather seats finished in Royal Blue with powder blue pinstriping and integrated headrests- MGB-branded chrome tread plates- Inertia-reel seat belts- Integrated speaker system- Battery isolation switch- Bluetooth-integrated and hidden stereo- 15" Moto-Lita polished aluminium and wood-rim steering wheel with MG-branded bossBoot Area- Fully carpeted boot finished to match interior- Matching spare wire wheel and tyre- Twin gas struts to boot lid- Tool kit including jack and Thor hammer- Carpeted spare wheel coverMechanical Specification- Fully rebuilt engine- Mazda five-speed manual gearbox conversion- Revotec electric cooling fan- Aluminium radiator- Oil cooler- Wasp high-torque starter motor- Smith heater box- Aluminium rocker cover- Intermotor sports ignition coil- CSI electronic ignition- New alternator- K&N performance air filters- New SU carburettors- Unleaded, gas-flowed cylinder head- Braided fuel and oil hoses- New wiring loom- Servo-assisted braking system- 12-volt battery conversion- Spax telescopic shock absorbers front and rear- Polybushed suspension throughout- New leaf springs- Drilled and grooved front brake discs- Electric fuel pump- Tourist Trophy stainless steel exhaust system and manifold- New front brake pads fitted August 2025- Full service completed May 2026 at 1, 813 miles- Wax oiled chassis and floorsDocumentation- British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate- Restoration photographs- Restoration invoices- Owner's handbook- History fileDriving ExperienceToday, the MGB presents beautifully and drives exactly as a properly restored example should.
