Seller's comments about 1963' MG Roadster

Offered for sale at auction on 20th April at Sandown Park Racecourse, Esher, KT10 9AJ

The vendors husband bought this "pull handle" MGB in the mid to late 1970’s. He restored it and used it for some while, but it has not been driven since the early 1980’s. His plan was to restore it back to how it had been when Colonel Rixon Bucknall first created it. The interior had been altered and the lovely walnut dashboard removed. Also, the front seats had been replaced with bucket seats. The interior was black whereas the original interior was red. The hood has also been dyed black from the original red. The car has had the engine and most of the interior removed ready for restoration. It has been kept inside for the last 30 odd years.

The car appears to be in sound structural condition, and retains many of its original fittings, the light alloy HRG cross flow cylinder head as modified by Harry Weslake himself, the boot wing tanks, the Borrani wire wheels, and the engine and gearbox. Most things appear to be with the car, and although it has been re-painted in light blue, the original grey paint is still visible in some places. This is a unique MGB, designed and executed by a man who loved his cars, to his exacting standards. This is a project for the dedicated MG enthusiast, who will end up with a car that nobody else will have.
