Tony Bates, renowned for his classic Lotus Elite restorations, built this car for his wife, setting out to create the finest MG TF possible. He started with a rust-free US donor vehicle, ensuring the foundation was solid before embarking on a no-expense-spared restoration.
The attention to detail is evident throughout. The engine has been meticulously re-sleeved to a larger 1500cc for enhanced performance. The car features a high-quality stainless steel exhaust, a rebuilt radiator, and classic PL 700 headlamps. All parts were sourced from the highly respected Naylor Brothers, guaranteeing quality and authenticity. The mohair weather equipment and all side screens have been replaced, ensuring the car is ready for all seasons.
The superb craftsmanship extends to the gearbox, which has been professionally rebuilt by Lawson Racing. Since the completion of this monumental restoration, the car has travelled a mere 350 miles, making it an almost brand-new example of a classic.
