Last on the road in 1978, the car was bought in France in 1963 by its TV producer owner who was then working for NBC television. He parked the car up 41 years ago in his West London garage and entombed the car in a wooden box to allow household storage.

This urban barn find, last driven 41 years ago by TV producer, director, script writer the late Jerry Kuehl. Jerry worked on three landmark series The Great War (BBC, 1964), The World at War (Thames Television, 1973-74) and Cold War (Turner Productions, 1998). Jerry bought the MG in 1963 when he lived in France then working for NBC. Although a RHD car it seems it was exported directly to France and never registered in the UK until Jerry brought it back in 1971, hence the ‘J’ reg. The odometer shows 13788 miles. When he was working on The World At War Jerry used the TD for his regular commute to Thames TV in Teddington, a 30 mile round trip, Parking the MG in the garage of his West Hampstead home he left the keys in the ignition in 1978 and they’re still there. Later the car was entombed in a wooden box on top of which redundant household items, deckchairs, and the like were piled.
