1954 MG TF
$27,500
For me the MG TF is the most beautiful of all the MG's and mine is the most beautiful of them all! Just take a look at the photographs. She is the best looker of the five I have owned.
The TF’s were made between July 1954 and April 1955 a 14 month production run of just 3,600 cars.
I am advised that my car was built MARCH 29, 1954. She has Car/Chassis (V.I.N.) Number HDE43/4413 and Engine Number XPAGTF34262.
Looking at her, an Extensive Restoration has been carried out evidenced by her good condition. The indicated mileage is 65,428. While I have no real reason to disbelieve it, I can't substantiate it either.
I’m advised that her original color was Mid Green with a Green Interior. It has been sensibly changed to MG Black and I have to believe it was a "body-off" operation as the Underside, under the Hood and the Interior have been similarly re-painted. She is in really good condition save for the very few stone chips, etc., that unavoidably come with use. The interior was also equally sensibly changed to Factory-Matching, Red Leather and is in excellent condition. The original black carpets are present and in excellent condition and covered by new, black MG mats.
I have had a professional inspect and service her and he made some repairs including some work to the Gear Change, Starter Motor, Fuel Pump, Exhaust and Rev Counter.
If you're looking for a car that you can confidently drive to and successfully enter in your local car shows, she is it!
Rust-Free with the Undercarriage in very clean condition. I apologize for the lack of Underbody photos but I don’t have a lift.
Although she has been repainted during her 60 year life; the Paintwork has only the minor scars of being driven and there are no dents. The original Chrome-plated Parts and the Manufacturer's Badges, etc., are original and, in the main, in good condition. All the Gauges, Road Lights and Horn work except the Clock which doesn't work (they never do!). The Electric Wipers don’t work (you can use them manually) but that hasn’t bothered me as I don’t take her out in poor weather.
The Engine starts instantaneously from cold without using the Choke and runs smoothly and enthusiastically awaiting your use. She accelerates willingly with that gorgeous sound from the brand new Polished Stainless Steel, “Tourist Trophy” Exhaust and Muffler. She changes smoothly through all the Gears. The Clutch can give you wheel spin at the start in First Gear if you wish, proof that the Clutch is good.
There is virtually no play in the Steering. The Hand Brake works as it should and the car's Brakes are also good.
She has been serviced including:-
All Fluid levels checked.
Air Cleaners cleaned.
Other items of interest:-
A new, full, top quality, black Tonneau Cover.
Recently replaced Chrome, Wire Wheels.
Optional Electric Heater and Fan.
New Lucas PL700S Headlights and twin, working, Lucas SLD 576 Spot Lights of the era fitted to a Badge Bar with BDRC and BRSSC Badges.
Twin, fender-mounted, Wing Mirrors and twin, of the era, vintage, AMCO Windscreen Wind Wings.
She has the original Crank Handle; twin Hood Stays (unusual); the Factory Steering Wheel, an MG Jack with Crank; and the correct, Thor, Brass-Headed Hammer for the Wire Wheel, Knock-on Hubs.
There is a full Toolkit in a Tool Roll.
The Top and the Hood's Frame-work are Black and in new condition. The transparent Rear Window is also obviously new. The four Side Screens are seemingly in new condition and un-used. Neither should really concern you as you surely don’t intend to take her out in the rain. I suggest you wrap the Side Screens securely and put them safely in the attic where they belong.
She also comes with an old-style but new Driver's Handbook (i.e. very comprehensive) and a similarly old style but new Service Book.
A physical inspection by you and/or your agent is cordially invited but by appointment please.
I am asking US$27,500. Unencumbered title is in my personal name. Typically of classic cars, she is offered on the basis of "AS IS, WHERE IS" and in strict and sole accordance with the terms of a mutually agreed, written SALE/PURCHASE AGREEMENT and a formal BILL OF SALE.
You'll probably want to see my other photos or have some questions so please don't hesitate to contact me - or maybe you just want to "car-chat"?
My car is being advertised locally and this listing can be withdrawn at any time without prior notice.
Thank you for your interest and I hope to hear from you.
Best wishes, IAN
