SMS 677T is a genuine matching numbers 1275GT that comes with paperwork back to new to include its original dealer pack, handbooks, passport to service book and spare key. This stunning, fully rebuilt example was supplied new by a Kirkintilloch based Garage to a Mr Cassidy in Motherwell in 1979, and the original passport to service booklet records the Mini’s first three services at Taggarts (Motherwell) Ltd at 800, 4000 and 6700 miles all during 1979. We then have MOT certificates from when the car was four years old in 1983 at 27785 miles.
MOT certificates with the car show regular consistent use up to 2006 when the 1275GT has covered around 124000 miles. After its early years in Scotland the Mini headed to the South Coast where it spent many years but by 2006 the 1275GT was off the road and ready for some major work. Having spent from 2006 to 2020 laid up, the most recent Essex based owner purchased the Mini and commissioned a bare shell restoration costing in the region of £35, 000. The restoration was carried out with a long-term view with no plans to sell the car in the immediate future, hence the level of expense to reach an incredibly high standard.

Its very clear from the file of invoices and condition of the car that this rebuild was carried out with no expense spared. The bare shell was restored, the shell painted to include the underside which was finished to an impressive standard. The original 1275 engine was rebuilt, and the major running gear completely overhauled. The 1275GT was treated to a nut and bolt restoration and on completion it was detailed to ensure a show standard level finish. . Since completion the Mini has been carefully dry stored and unused so our workshop will carry out a service and some basic running in miles before the Mini is handed over to its next owner.

These 1275GT examples are becoming scarce, and to find a matching numbers car with full history back to new, and a recent restoration costing more than £35, 000 will be incredibly difficult to replicate. This is a fantastic buy, it's a real collector's piece that will also prove fantastic fun to own and drive. The history and provenance are exceptional, but the condition equally as impressive with a beautiful first class bodyshell and underside, superb, detailed engine bay, fabulous interior and renewed mechanicals that put this 1275GT into fantastic order. A rare opportunity and something quite special.
